2022 is the year of reunions and this past weekend was a reunion that many in the wine world have been eagerly anticipating! Hospice du Rhône was back in person! One of the best wine festivals out there, Hospice du Rhône Paso Robles 2022 is the Please The Palate pick of the week. Hospice du Rhône is a biannual event that takes place in Paso Robles. More than 120 international Rhône producers from across California, Oregon, and the Rhône Valley gathered for a weekend of seminars, lunches, dinners, an auction, and walk around tastings. This is THE event for lovers of Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne, Picpoul Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Clairette Blanche, Bourboulenc, and any other grapes that originate from the Rhône Valley. My schedule only allowed me to attend the Opening Tasting but just those few hours were a highlight of the week. And the theme of the Opening Tasting was Library Wines, so lots of older vintages to taste! In addition to tasting incredibly delicious wines, the highlight of Hospice du Rhône is seeing so many winemaker friends from around the world in one place! Hospice du Rhône offers serious fun and I will be back when it returns in 2024!
