Where In the World Should I Go? LA Times Travel Show

Trying to decide where to take your next trip?  Looking for great tips?  The 14th Annual LA Times Travel Show took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center January 28-29, 2012.  Travel experts such as Arthur Frommer, Rick Steves, Rudy Maxa, Adam Richman, Lisa Ling and many others shared their insights and trends in today’s travel.

There were more than panel discussions about where to go, how to save money and other tips…..there were also cooking demos on various dishes from around the world.  And of course, there was a cocktail demonstration by the quirky and chatty best friend duo, Alie and Georgia. Alie Ward and Georgia Hardstark became famous after creating a cocktail called The McNuggetini and posting it on YouTube.  They began playing with other cocktail ideas and now have a new webseries, Classy Ladies With Alie & Georgia, on CookingChanneltv.com.

Alie and Georgia’s demonstration focused on internationally themed cocktails.  If you can’t travel to an exotic location, perhaps one of these easy-to-make cocktails will help you escape.

  • “Basil Berry Cocktail” (Lambrusco, Basil and strawberries)
  • “Luck of the Irish Whiskey” (Irish whiskey, Irish cream, creme de mint, with an Andez mint shaved on top)
  • “Thai One On” (Thai tea infused vodka, simple syrup, topped with cream)
