Is a night out dinner and a movie? Or a movie followed by dinner? What about dinner in the movie? I am not talking about sneaking in your take-out. I am talking about the luxury iPic Theater, that reopened the doors of the Avco movie theater on Wilshire and Westwood a few months ago. And recently, Tanzy an Italian restaurant with outlets in Scottsdale and Boca Raton, opened within the theater.
When you enter the iPic theater, the box office is more like a concierge service at a hotel. You are then led to your theater and your assigned seats.
There are two seat options in the theaters:
Premium seating includes reserved, comfortable large leather chairs. Food is available at the Tanzy Express grab & go, or otherwise known as the concession stand at most theaters. Except this stand offers truffle fries, sliders and flatbreads in addition to the typical popcorn and candy.
Premium Plus seating includes reserved, plush micro-suede, fully reclining chairs with a pillow and blanket. It’s more comfortable than watching from home on the couch!
Plus you get free popcorn and in-cinema food and beverage service. Just press the button (like the flight attendant call button but this lights up) and your server will quietly appear during the movie to take your order, serve your food or drink or clear the table.
iPic movies are more expensive that most movie theaters but if you join the membership program (which is free), you will save money on the tickets. Premium seating is $19 for non-members and $12 for members and Premium Plus seating is $29 for non-members and $22 for members.
After the movie, if you still have an appetite (or perhaps before the movie….or event just on its own), stop at Tanzy. Tanzy is actually connected to the theater, separated by the canopy of sculptural intertwined vines.
Sit at the bar or in the white fire pit lounge or at one of the tables.
Enjoy fresh juices and seasonal cocktails created by Adam Seger and Italian-inspired food by Chef Bryan Podgorski, who previously worked at the French Laundry and as chef de cuisine at Bouchon in Las Vegas.
On the drinks side, you can select form Handcrafted juices, such as Strawberry lemonade (Harry’s berries strawberries, Melissa’s rhubarb, Single Estate Highland agave) and Cali Colada (fresh young coconut water, grilled pineapple, California pistachios) for the non-alcoholic option or add Prosecco for a little flair.
And for a little more of a kick, go for a Classic cocktail, such as the Margarita (100% de agave tequila, homemade limoncello, agave and hand squeezed lime) or the Mojito (Strawberry, rhubarb, basil, balsamic, rum and prosecco)
There is also a refreshing selection of Sorbetti martinis made with House infused vodka, hand squeezed juice, sorbetto, prosecco:
Under the Tuscan Sun with Carrot-saffron vodka, honey sour & lemon sorbetto
Strawberry Fields with Harry’s Berries strawberry vodka, rhubarb sour & strawberry sorbetto
Coco Pazzo with Grilled pineapple vodka, roasted pistachio vodka, vanilla-lavender sour & coconut sorbetto
The menu is a blend of fresh California produce and Italian inspiration. From a raw bar to fresh garden soups and salads to pastas, meats and desserts, there is something for everyone.
Next time you want an afternoon or evening out, head to your local iPic Theater and Tanzy Restaurant and enjoy a movie and a meal in luxury and style.
