As the summer comes to an end, we think back to one of the most fun and quintessential Southern California events this summer: "Evening On The Beach". There is nothing better than dressing up, kicking off your shoes and sticking your feet in the sand. Evening on the Beach With wine glass in hand, a couple hundred guests attended the 5th annual "An Evening on the Beach" in support of St. Vincent Meals on Wheels of LA.
When you were a kid and someone asked what kind of dog you had, did you ever answer "a Heinz 57 mutt"? Where did that term come from? That term is a shortened form of an advertising slogan about the numerous products, or "57 varieties", produced by the Heinz Company. And, today it means anything that is mixed from a lot of things. Fifty Seven LA's newest downtown restaurant in the arts district is located on the former loading dock of the Heinz 57 Factory and is called Fifty Seven. But, while the name may pay homage to its former tenant, it is actually quite appropriate considering the format. Fifty Seven boasts a rotating roster of "chefs in residence" who will come in for a season and create their own seasonal menu.

Everyone was talking about it......Industrial Eats. "Have you been?" "You should go." "Can we get in?" "Let's meet there early." Apparently this is the hot spot in Buellton! Industria Eats I had driven up to Buellton in Santa Barbara wine country from Los Angeles for the Wine Bloggers Conference and was hungry. Located less than a 5 minute drive from the Santa Ynez Marriott Hotel, I was excited to hear that I wasn't going to have to have pea soup or fast food or drive further to find good food. I decided to go early to beat the crowd, not knowing what to expect.
The attractiveness of a wine label is one of the main reasons why consumers select a wine in the store. Have you ever looked at a label and wondered what a winery was thinking? Ever thought you had an idea for a wine label? Kathy Joseph Winemaker Kathy Joseph named the wine after mile marker 7.28, the location of Fiddlestix Vineyard in the Sta Rita Hills. Kathy wanted to pay tribute to an important place in the AVA Sta Rita Hills for Pinot Noir production. "728 is a name that I wanted everyone to celebrate worldwide," explained Kathy.
