02 Apr Please The Palate Spring 2024 Newsletter
It seems like just yesterday that we were celebrating the new year and yet here we are, already in April. Alas, Spring is here! With all of the rain we have had in Southern California (and more to come), the hills have never been greener, and the flowers have never been brighter. And it is time for the Please The Palate Spring 2024 Newsletter.
While the year has started slowly on the event front, there has been lots of travel, writing, and more. I enjoyed trips with friends to Mexico City and Sedona, Arizona; I judged at the San Diego International Wine & Spirits Challenge in San Diego; I moderated a seminar panel at Passion for Pinot in Palm Springs; I attended the Rhone Rangers Event in Paso Robles and World of Pinot Noir in Santa Barbara. I was invited to serve again as an “Expert” for USA Today 10Best.com Readers’ Choice Awards which cover various travel and lifestyle topics covering food, destinations, travel gear, things to do, seasonal family fun, and more. And I was nominated for the Wine & Food Influencer Expert Opinion Award with the Wine Travel Awards. The first round of voting has ended, and I am in the top five in my category. This means that I am heading to the final round which will be judged by a panel of industry professionals.
I am excited to share two upcoming events. The 22nd annual Vintage Hollywood Food and Wine Charity Event benefiting GO Campaign will take place on Saturday, June 8th in Santa Monica.
And I am VERY excited to announce a new event that I have busily been creating and I can finally share it with you! The first annual Festival of Forgotten Grapes will take place on Saturday, June 29th in Los Angeles and I hope to see you there!
Be Original. Drink Bold. Taste Different.
Everyone knows Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir. But do you know Semillon, Cinsault, Teroldego, Nebbiolo, and Marsanne? With more than 110 unique wine varieties grown in California alone, The Festival of Forgotten Grapes celebrates the unknown “underdog” grapes of California wine and showcases the winemakers from across the state who share and spread the Forgotten Grapes love with every bottle they make.
At The Festival of Forgotten Grapes, you’ll not only get to taste scores of lesser-known and uncommon Forgotten Grape wines, but you’ll also be able to order the wines you love right there at the event and have them delivered directly to you within three weeks for one exceptionally low delivery fee. No matter how many different wines you select, no matter how many different wineries, there are no multiple shipping fees. Just one low delivery rate for these outrageous Forgotten Grape wines delivered directly to your door.
So come taste the adventure and try something new at the Festival of Forgotten Grapes on Saturday, June 29th in downtown Los Angeles. Don’t settle for the ordinary! We promise to please your palates with delicious Forgotten Grapes!

Upcoming monthly virtual wine events:
Forgotten Grapes Monthly Virtual Tastings with Winemakers
There are more than 3500 wineries in California. That is a lot of wineries. Many of these wineries are small, family-owned businesses making anywhere from 500-5000 cases. At Please The Palate, owner Allison Levine loves to seek out these small producers and introduce them to friends through stories and events. Each month, in partnership with Chris Kern of Forgotten Grapes, we will offer 4 wines for $109 from one of these incredible producers. You will also be invited to our virtual tasting with the owner or winemaker on the second Thursday of each month.
Upcoming Dates:
May offering:
VeroVino (Italy)
1 white wine + 1 rose wine + 2 red wines + 1 sparkling dessert wine
$109 + tax ($115 value)
June offering:
Camins 2 Dreams (Los Olivos)
2 white wines + 2 red wines
$109 + tax ($132 value)
July offering:
Tera Wine Co (Gilroy)
1 white wine + 1 rose wine + 2 red wines
$109 + tax ($128 value)
If you are interested, please email me at info@pleasethepalate.com to let me know you would love to receive one of the $109 bundles (plus shipping if out of the Los Angeles area).
Forgotten Grapes is not a club and there is no commitment. Each month, a bundle of wines will be offered for a special price. If you are interested, you can order them. I’ll take your credit card and delivery information and will charge your card. If you live in Southern California, delivery is FREE and will be personally delivered to you (contactless). If you live beyond Southern California, wines can be shipped – $25 in California and $30 outside of California to the Western States (AZ, NV, OR, ID). For additional states, please contact us.
