Please The Palate Pick of the Week: Knife Flight, a Prepaid Mail-In Knife Sharpening Service

As we approach a new year, I typically have a list of things to do around my house, such as the ever exciting changing of air filters and such. Another thing I have on my list is to sharpen my knives. It is recommended to have your knives sharpened at least once or twice a year, so I plan to start of each year with freshly sharpened knives. But I do not have time to drive all over the city to find a knife sharpener, nor do I have time to give up my knives for a few days. That is why Knife Flight was my answer and is the Please The Palate pick of the week.

Please The Palate Pick of the Week: Knife Flight, a Prepaid Mail-In Knife Sharpening Service

Knife Flight is a a pre-paid, mail-in service for professional knife sharpening. It has never been so easy, accessible, reliable, and convenient to get your knives sharpened.

Knife Flight was founded by husband and wife team Kyle (Mr. Knify) and Jess (Knify Wifey) Miller who live in Oregon. They met in the restaurant business and it was during a family vacation that the idea for Knife Flight was born. Noticing how dull the knives were in their rental, they realized that there was a good chance that knives were dull in many homes. And, in creating Knife Flight, they have not only sharpened lots of dull knives, but they have done so with they most thoughtful and accessible service. A family-owned and operated business, they have thought of everything. The quality of their service is matched with the personal customer service, and best of all, the turnaround is very quick!

The first step is to submit your order. There is a minimum order of four knives ($57) and a maximum of 15 knives ($157). But for just $5 more, they will include loaner knives! This means that if when I sent my knives, I was not left in the lurch.

Within 24 hours, I received my prepaid kit, which included custom cardboard sheaths with adhesive strips to cover and protect my knives’ blades (and anyone who handled the package). The loaner knives were also included in the kit, as well as a pre-printed 3-day Priority Mail label.
