Spring is here and I am coming up for air after having just completed the 2nd annual Festival of Forgotten Grapes. I spent most of the past quarter working on this event. For the second annual event that celebrates the “forgotten grapes” of California, I nearly doubled everything (wineries, wines, and attendees) from year one! For this year’s event, there were 60 wineries, 258 wines, 96 unique grape varieties, and close to 400 people came out to enjoy these wines. If you are reading this and attended the event, THANK YOU!!! It is so exciting and gratifying to see so many people excited to explore the vast diversity of grape varieties that exist in California and to celebrate the winemakers who champion these grapes! While I am still trying to recover from this year’s event, I am already thinking about 2026 in Los Angeles and also considering adding a second city in California. We will see! In the meantime, some nice accolades have come through regarding my writing. My blog was selected as one of the Top 100 Wine Blogs on the web by FeedSpot. It was also selected as one of the Top 100 Cocktail Blogs on the web by FeedSpot! In addition, Wine Soundtrack USA, the podcast that I host, was named one of the Best 100 Wine Podcasts by Million Podcasts. Forgotten Grapes Monthly Virtual Tastings with Winemakers  There are more than 3500 wineries in California. That is a lot of wineries. Many of these wineries are small, family-owned businesses making anywhere from 500-5000 cases. At Please The Palate, owner Allison Levine loves to seek out these small producers and introduce them to friends through stories and events. Each month, in partnership with Chris Kern of Forgotten Grapes, we will offer 4 wines for $109 from one of these incredible producers. You will also be invited to our virtual tasting with the owner or winemaker on the second Thursday of each month. Upcoming Dates: May offering: Outward Wines (Santa Ynez) 1 white wine + 1 rose wine + 2 red wines $109 + tax ($124 value) June offering: Diniz Cellars 4 Portuguese wines $109 + tax If you are interested, please email me at info@pleasethepalate.com to let me know you would love to receive one of the $109 bundles (plus shipping if out of the Los Angeles area). Forgotten Grapes is not a club and there is no commitment. Each month, a bundle of wines will be offered for a special price. If you are interested, you can order them.
