11 Feb Please The Palate Wine of the Week: Unsanctioned 2024 Pinot Gris, Oregon
Some days, I do not want to contemplate what I am going to drink. I just want to enjoy a wine without too much thought. With the words “less fuss, more fun” on the label, the Unsanctioned 2024 Pinot Gris from Oregon caught my eye, and I knew that it was perfect for my mood. Crisp, refreshing, and easy drinking, the Unsanctioned 2024 Pinot Gris from Oregon was no fuss and lots of fun, and that is why it is the Please The Palate wine of the week.

About Jackson Family Wines
Jackson Family Wines has long been known for its commitment to place, family stewardship, and quality across a diverse portfolio of wineries around the world. That commitment expanded to Oregon in 2013, with investments in the Willamette Valley that reinforced the family’s belief in cool-climate regions and expressive, site-driven wines.
Unsanctioned takes a slightly different approach. While rooted in the same focus on quality fruit and thoughtful winemaking, this label is about loosening the rules and celebrating joy, community, and wines that are simply fun to drink. No pretense, no pressure, just bottles meant to be opened and shared. The white wine is made from Pinot Gris, the second most planted grape in Oregon.

Tasting Notes
The 2024 Unsanctioned Pinot Gris is a fresh, playful Oregon white blending 90% Willamette Valley Pinot Gris with 10% Umpqua Valley Sauvignon Blanc. Made from 100% Oregon-grown grapes, the wine is fermented entirely in stainless steel, preserving purity, brightness, and aromatic lift. The wine is such a pale yellow color, it is almost clear. At 12.5% alcohol, it is light on its feet with notes of peach, pear, lime, and a touch of honey. On the palate, the wine has vibrant acidity with a soft roundness.

Food Pairing
This is a wine best served well chilled. It is a perfect wine for casual settings and versatile enough to be enjoyed with grilled seafood, briny clams, or simple vegetables straight off the grill. I enjoyed it after a long day of work. I had no creative energy when it came to deciding what to make to eat so I ordered some sushi rolls. The pairing was no fuss, fun, and tasty.

Where To Purchase
The Unsanctioned 2024 Pinot Gris, Oregon is an affordable value wine that retails for $20 and can be purchased on the Jackson Family online Wine Store.
