09 Jul Please The Palate Summer 2021 Newsletter
Summer is here and it is time for fun and sun! Summer 2021 also marks the 10th anniversary of Please The Palate. It is hard to believe that it has been 10 years already! Wow, where does time fly?!??! Well, it keeps on flying and Please The Palate is now focused on the next 10 years! Thank you so much for your support over the years!!!! While we start to get back to in-person events, Please The Palate, and others, are still hosting virtual wine tastings and hopefully they are here to stay. For winemakers, it offers an opportunity to meet people around the country without having to spend needless time on airplanes. And a winemaker can take an hour to meet people and share their wines even in the middle of harvest. And, on the personal side, there is ease and comfort in enjoying a tasting from the comfort of your own home. Invite some friends over, prepare a meal, and get to know the about the wines as a way to start out your evening. I hope to see you at an upcoming virtual tasting. Upcoming virtual tastings! Forgotten Grapes Wine Bundle and Virtual Tasting There are more than 3500 wineries in California and many of these wineries are small, family-owned businesses making anywhere from 500-5000 cases. At Please The Palate, owner Allison Levine loves to seek out these small producers and in partnership with Chris Kern of Forgotten Grapes, we bring you the best boutique wine bundle deals every month from California’s Central Coast! These are not wines that you will find at your local wine shop or restaurant. Each month features a different winery. The wine bundle includes 4 wines for $100 + tax ($150 value). Delivery is free and contact-less to people living in Southern California. If you live beyond Southern California, wines can be shipped – $25 in California and $30 outside of California to Western States (AZ, NV, OR, ID). Additional states, please contact us. But many islands are also producing some of today’s most exciting wines. Each island is unique with different climates, terroirs, and wine styles. But what wine producing islands have in common are that grapes are often grown in close proximity to major bodies of water. In addition, most islands were originally formed by volcanic activity resulting in soils with ample minerality. Some say that volcanic soil enhances a wine’s aromatics, perhaps making these wines more enticing. Join WINECULT, Please The Palate and Wine Weirdos as we island hop and explore the delicious wines from islands. Stay tuned for which islands we will visit! Tentative dates: July 23, August 6, August 20, and September 3rd Each wine tasting will be segmented by country and hosted Virtually over Zoom (at 6pm PST). You can participate in 1, 2, 3, or all 4 classes, and we will offer discounted rates that increase as you purchase more classes and all wines that you select will be shipped together at the same time. Each country’s tasting bundle includes: 2 full bottles of wine, tasting notes, a history of each variety, stories about the winemakers, and food pairings. You will receive the Zoom invite a couple days before each class.
