Please The Palate Pick of the Week: Vintage Wine + Eats Studio City

Having grown up in Studio City, I am always excited to try new places that open in the area. The newest spot that I tried was Vintage Wine + Eats on Ventura Blvd. in Studio City. Located in the former Artisan Cheese Gallery space, Vintage Wine + Eats is a charming and welcoming neighborhood spot with an interesting selection of wines and some tasty food and it is the Please The Palate pick of the week. I remember when Artisan Cheese Gallery first opened its doors in 2005. The space was a retail store but there were tables inside and outside and whenever I would drive by, the outdoor tables would be full with people enjoying sandwiches and salads. This popular spot closed in the summer of 2019 and in July 2019, Vintage Wine + Eats opened in its place. After a complete redesign, the space is now a delightful neighborhood wine bar. The space is open and bright with vintage green wainscoting and cozy tufted booths. A long bar runs the length of one wall and wines are displayed behind it. Wine Director Rebecca Rose Phillips has curated a lovely list of wines to showcase at Vintage Wine + Eats. Small domestic and international producers, unique grapes and some lesser known regions are featured on the wine list. There are 50 wines by the glass offered, as well as a selection of craft beers. To pair with the wines (or beers) there is a small plate menu which includes cheese boards, salads and some other very tasty dishes. Cheese Board Mushroom Toast with mixed wild mushrooms, arugula pesto, garlic aioli on sourdough bread Roasted Baby Carrots with thyme, parsley and butter Lamb Lollipops with roasted garlic, tomato, cilantro chimichurri Raclette Sweet Potato with raclette, Nueske’s bacon, creme fraiche, chives The diverse selection of wines is enough to get me to come back but Vintage Wine + Eats offers some other tempting reasons to come back. Happy Hour is offered daily from 3pm – 7pm. A $17 cheese board with three cheeses is reduced to $12 and selected wines are available for $8, and beers for $4. Other tempting offers include Dollar Burger Night on Sundays, Oyster Night on Mondays and Flatbread & Flights on Tuesdays. For the wine flights on Tuesdays, three wines will be selected by Rebecca and you will not be disappointed. One more thing!  Vintage Wine + Eats has a small wine retail shop with a different offering of wines than what is on the menu. However, if you particularly like one of the wines on the wine list, you can also purchase it to take home! I know where I will be frequenting when I am visiting my parents in Studio City!
