Every day is a good day for a picnic. Maybe you need to grab lunch to go. Maybe you do not have time to cook dinner. Or maybe you really are going to picnic with friends. Picnic may mean a different thing to each person, but no matter the situation, Picnic LA is the answer.
Located in Culver City, Picnic LA is the fast-casual, produce-driven concept by partners Brad Zions, Eliot Silver, Noah Ellis and Chef Alex Resnick (formerly of Red Medicine, not the one on Top Chef).
Like a good picnic, Picnic LA offers a variety of dishes that combine flavors from Italy, Morocco, Southeast Asia and beyond. With a fine dining background, Chef Resnick created an accessible menu made with high quality products. The menu, which changes daily and seasonally, is presented in small dishes and bowls which means the food is made fresh and does not sit out in the display case for long.
Royal Corona Beans with Anchovies
Poached Salmon
Piquillo Pepper Toast
Cincinnati Radishes
Fennel and Citrus Sald
Carrots
Butternut Squash and Farro Salad
Lodge Bread and House-Churned Butter
Each dish has a sign in front of it that describes the contents, as well as icons to designate if it is vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, spicy, has dairy or has nuts. So no matter your dietary requirements, there is something for everyone here.
At Picnic LA, there are no composed dishes. Guests can build their own plates, choosing either three or four items. There are supplemental prices on proteins and items can be ordered a la carte as well.
For drinks, Picnic LA has fresh juices from local Oxnard company California Juice Co and jars of iced tea and coffee from local Culver City coffee roaster Bar Nine. They also offer Kombucha and Mexican Coca Cola.
Dessert is a must with the Vietnamese Coffee Pot de Creme, the Key lime pie tart that is more like a lemon bar with a smooth custard baked on a palm sugar crust or the pineapple Cloufouti.
Picnic LA is an open space with large picnic tables for eating inside.
Or, with the adorable to-go packaging, it is fun to take the food to go.
Located on busy Culver Boulevard, rest assured that there is parking in the back of the restaurant. And, if you are taking food to go, order on-line and enjoy curbside pickup.
This is Picnic LA’s first location but they are bound to have more around the city in no time!
