20 Dec Eating Healthy Tastes Good at Kreation Kafe in Brentwood
Heading to the opening of the new Kreation Kafe in Brentwood, I was anticipating a healthy meal. After all, Kreation Kafe is part of Kreation Organics, known for their cold-pressed organic juices and smoothies. While I enjoy a clean, healthy meal, I was expecting a selection of vegan or raw options. I enjoy this on occasion but is not something I anxiously look forward to. However, my meal at Kreation Kafe was healthy but also very flavorful and full of vegetables and meat. I enjoyed it so much that I cannot wait to go back!
Located on San Vicente Blvd in Brentwood, in the former Gaucho Grill space, Kreation Kafe is a full-service restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as its well-known juices, coffees and a grab & go section of healthy meals and snacks.
Kreation Kafe was founded by Marjan Sarshar. A Jewish refugee from Iran, Sarshar is a single mother of two daughters. She opened her first Kreation Organic Cafe on Montana Avenue in 2005 and today there are 17 locations, four of which are cafes. Inspired by the healthy elements of Middle Eastern cuisine, Kreation is committed to using 100% USDA Certified organic fruits and vegetables purchased locally.
The restaurant has a natural, welcoming feel to it. The walls are made of natural wood and one wall is a living plant wall. California succulents hang from the ceiling. It feels like you are in someone’s home and perhaps that is because much of the artwork and decor came from Sarshar’s home.
Each guest is presented with a blooming pure napkin that you dip in rosewater. You can wash your hands and relax at the same time. The menu is digital and it is fun to peruse and look at the photos, which will get your taste buds going.
What sets this Kreation Kafe apart from all of the other locations is that they are serving kocktails made with beer or wine and the fresh Kreation juices. The Kreation kocktails are light and refreshing to drink. And, how can there be any guilt when the cold-pressed juices are full of nutrients and health benefits.
The mimosas are made with Prosecco or sparkling wine. The Happy Ending is Prosecco and Happy (pineapple, pear, ginger and mint), the Destresser is Rose and deStress (coconut, apple, strawberry) and the Heart of Gold is Brut and Heart (pomegranate and apple).
Free Spirit is made with Pinot Noir and Master Cleanse (alkaline water, agave, lemon, cayenne), strawberries and raw honey.
Bliss is a beer cocktail made with Framboise and Harmony (apple, lemon, ginger).
The menu features a variety of Mediterranean and Persian inspired recipes.
The Cold Meze Sampler is a selection of the cold tapas – housemade hummus, persian cucumber salad, yogurt dip, eggplant dip, tabbouleh, black been salsa – served with lavash.
There are warm meze dishes as well which you can order as a sampler. Or those same items come on the side of the kabob plates.
Kreation Kafe has something for every single dietary restriction – vegan, vegetarian, lactose-free, gluten-free and more. But no matter what you chose to order, the food and drink are nourishing, clean fuel for the mind, body and spirit. Kreation Kafe is a welcome addition to the Brentwood neighborhood.
