Please The Palate Pick of the Week: Mulderbosch Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé

We are in full-fledged rosé season and a variety of shades of pink wine are on display in wine stores and on restaurant menus. One that stood out, both for its color and its flavor, is the Mulderbosch 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé, Coastal Region, South Africa. Hence it is the Please The Palate pick of the week.

Mulderbosch is one of the most well-known South African wineries. Located in Stellenbosch, in the heart of the winelands of South Africa, Mulderbosch is recognizable by its label. A long, vertical strip with the name written horizontally and a wax stamp image at the bottom, it is modeled after a custom seal on a cigar. This is a wine that you can immediately spot on a wine shelf and you will want to!

The Mulderbosch 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Ninety-five percent of the grapes are picked early and only spend time on the skins as they go through the press. Five percent of the grapes are picked when they are riper, which adds sweetness to the wine. The resulting wine is a vibrant cotton candy pink color. On the nose, red berry and cherry aromas jump out of the glass, followed by rose petal and mineral notes. On the palate, the wine is crisp and fresh with bright acidity.

And to top it all off, this wine costs only $12! So, if you are looking for a rosé to drink today, tomorrow or any day, try the Mulderbosch 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé, the Please The Palate pick of the week.
