December is here and the 2020 holiday season is underway. Brighten up your holidays with some sparkling wine. Not that I ever need a reason to drink bubbles, but if you do, here you go! J Vineyards was established in 1986 with the intent to produce Traditional Method sparkling wines in Sonoma County. J sources fruit from top locations in the Russian River Valley and Sonoma County and each estate vineyard offers a distinct expression of a different location within the vast Russian River Valley AVA.
The J Cuvee 20 is a signature non-vintage Brut that was created to celebrate J’s 20th anniversary in 2006. A blend from their best cool climate sites, it has been made ever since. The J Cuvee 20 is a blend of 51% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, and 9% Pinot Meunier. The grapes were hand-harvested and planted as whole clusters into a gentle press. Each vineyard lot was fermented and kept separate until blending. After bottling, the secondary bottling takes place in the bottle. The wine is aged en tirage in the cellars for 30 months before disgorgement and is then further aged on the cork before release.
A clean and clear yellow gold color, the J Cuvee 20 has a beautiful nose of green apple, stone fruit, pear, lime zest, lemon curd, and fresh baked sourdough. On the palate, the wine is elegant and vibrant with bright, delicate acidity. On the palate, the full-bodied wine is round and creamy with a touch of minerality. The wine has a long, lively finish that makes your mouth water wanting more.
