06 Aug Four Graces Winery is Strength in Numbers
Four Graces Winery owes its success to a quartet of sites in Oregon’s Willamette Valley.
FOUR is a number associated with balance, stability, and a strong foundation. It’s the number of the cardinal directions as identified by the Egyptians: north, south, east, and west. It’s the number of the elements according to the Greeks—earth, water, air, and fire. And it’s also significant at The Four Graces, a winery established in the Willamette Valley by Paula Marie and Steven L. Black in 2003: The name pays homage not only to the couple’s four daughters but to its four estate vineyards in the Willamette Valley. Situated in the Dundee Hills AVA in the heart of Oregon wine county, The Four Graces built its own strong foundation on Pinot Noir, the dominant grape of the region. But since its founding, it has expanded its portfolio to include other varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, and Gamay. In 2015, it was purchased by Foley Family Wines.
