Drink Riesling, One of the World’s Most Versatile Grapes – Crush On This Episode 34

Riesling is one of the world’s most versatile grapes and we love everything about it! This week we each selected a Riesling from a different region in the world! Brightness. Acidity. Aromatics. Versatility. Ethereal. These are descriptors for Riesling. When I ask friends what they love about Riesling, they say “everything.” Pretty enticing, right? We often assume that Riesling is sweet but this wonderfully aromatic grape produces wines that can be dry, off-dry, semi-sweet, and sweet. But no matter the style, Riesling offers beautiful intense aromatics that can include apricot, nectarine, apple, and pear, as well as lime, honeycomb, jasmine, and even petrol. Match the aromatics of Riesling to the high acidity for a wine that drinks well, pairs well with food, and ages well. Riesling’s ability to pair with anything from spicy food to ethnic cuisines to eclectic dishes makes Riesling a magical wine to enjoy.  Allison’s Wine: Emile Beyer, 2017 R.
