The Snack Program at The Restaurant at Meadowood Napa

When you think bar snacks, you might think sliders, calamari or french fries. But snacks will never be the same after enjoying them at The Restaurant at Meadowood in Napa. The Restaurant at Meadowood The Restaurant at Meadowood is a Michelin Guide 3-Star restaurant in Napa Valley, CA. The tasting menu costs $330 per guest. A three-course menu is available in the bar for $90. But if you are not looking for a full dining experience and just want to have a few bites with a glass, or two, of wine, take a seat at the bar or in the rotunda and try the Snack Program for $40. The Snack Program is a 9-course tasting menu. Each course is a small bar bite but it takes bar snacks to another level. Each course is like a small sampling of what you might enjoy inside the restaurant because the snacks are inspired by dishes from chef Christopher Kostow’s menu in the main dining room. This also means that the snacks change regularly. Eel (freshwater eel is smoked over cabernet barrel staves, wrapped in braised beef tongue and rolled in grape leaf nori) Eel Squash Blossom (squash blossoms fried in brown rice tempura until crisp and dusted with dried espelette pepper and yogurt powder) Squash Blossom The squash blossom came with avocado tempura with meyer lemon. Avocado Tempura Roasted Cucumber (mini white cucumbers are wrapped in madrone and roasted over the coals and served with lovage cream and dill pickle vinaigrette) Roasted Cucumber Okra Seed Caviar (fermented okra seeds from the garden, slices of salt-cured shima aji, whipped creme fraiche with tiny onions and chives and blinis made from teff flour and sweet potato) Okra Seed Caviar Okra Seed Caviar Spot Prawns Day Lilly (day lilly blossoms filled with spot prawns and grilled over coals) Spot Prawn Day Lilly Halibut with Unripe Apple Halibut, Unripe Apple Duck Legs (duck legs dressed with sauce of apple and sweet habaneros from the garden) Duck Legs Velvet Sister (Velvet Sister cheese is rubbed with grape-mite and grilled and then served with additional grape-mite and porridge bread) Velvet Sister Chocolate Babka (Babka is topped with cultured cream, chocolate nougat and a tempered milk chocolate sheet) Chocolate Babka The service in the bar is as impeccable and attentive as one would expect in the dining room. Sitting in the warm space, with its elegant countryside charm, it was a perfect way to spend an evening. While the snacks are small, we left very satisfied. If you find yourself in Napa, spend an evening at Meadowood, enjoying the snacks. Reservations are not required. The Restaurant at Meadowood Bar 900 Meadowood Lane, St. Helena, CA
