A Visit To Merriam Vineyards In Sonoma

On a recent visit to Sonoma, I was invited to check out the newly renovated Merriam Vineyards. It was my first time at the winery, which was started by Peter and Diana Merriam. They purchased a 12-acre vineyard on Limerick Lane in 2000 that was already planted with Merlot and is one of the oldest vineyard sites in Sonoma. They named it Windacre Vineyard and released their first wine a few years later. Then in 2003, they purchased a nearby property on Los Amigos Road, where they built their winery and tasting room and began planting new vineyards in 2009.

The Merriam Estate property offers both indoor and outdoor options for tasting. Inside, the Windacre Lounge and Tasting Room with a wraparound porch is spacious with high ceilings and large windows letting in the outside light. Outside, there is a garden tasting area and a water feature driven tasting terrace.
