Everyone was talking about it......Industrial Eats. "Have you been?" "You should go." "Can we get in?" "Let's meet there early." Apparently this is the hot spot in Buellton! Industria Eats I had driven up to Buellton in Santa Barbara wine country from Los Angeles for the Wine Bloggers Conference and was hungry. Located less than a 5 minute drive from the Santa Ynez Marriott Hotel, I was excited to hear that I wasn't going to have to have pea soup or fast food or drive further to find good food. I decided to go early to beat the crowd, not knowing what to expect.
The first time I went to Soleto Trattoria & Pizza Bar was for a friend's rehearsal dinner last year. With one of the largest patios in downtown LA, it is an ideal spot for a gathering of friends. And with a large oval bar that dominates the dining rooms, along with a pizza bar, Soleto is a great spot for lunch, happy hour and dinner, whether you are with one friend or a large group. So, I went for lunch last month and then a couple weeks later, after finishing an event across the street, I went back for dinner to try more items from the menu. Located in the heart of the financial district in downtown LA, Soleto is celebrating its third anniversary this month. With a menu inspired by Southern Italian dishes, the menu has been updated and offers dishes that are appealing to both the foodie and those with who just want good food.
If you’re like me, then you probably enjoy a good pizza from time to time. Whether you prefer Chicago style deep dish or thin crust Italian, it is inevitable that you can’t go wrong with pizza. Maybe I’m biased because I’m Italian, but who doesn’t love cheesy dough covered in toppings? Pizza is like the dessert bar sundae...but for dinner! A local hot spot for many Los Angeles' diners is Sawtelle Blvd. in West LA. Although this boulevard, also called ‘Little Osaka’, is most commonly known for their ramen, sushi and boba, I got a chance to mix it up and try something different. Clusi Batusi opened in 2012, and with only a year under their belt, they have been cooking some of LA’s best pizza. Clusi Batusi is cleverly named after Chef Michele Gargani’s favorite pet cat and is family owned and operated. It’s no surprise why the food is so good here; Chef Gargani is a direct import himself from Italy. With that being said, he knows his stuff and is constantly making dishes with the freshest ingredients that are true to Italian food and culture.
