Fast, fresh and healthy - who doesn't like that combination? That's what Yalla Mediterranean offers. With two locations in Northern California, Yalla Mediterranean has come to Los Angeles with a first location in Burbank and Culver City is slated to open in December. Yalla Mediterranean Featuring the cuisines of Greece, Morocco, Turkey, Lebanon, Israel, Tunisia and Egypt, Yalla Mediterranean celebrates the flavors around the Mediterranean. Everything at Yalla Mediterranean is custom made-to-order. Stand in line and decide the base you want to start with - falafel, chicken shawarma, chicken skewers, steak skewers, kefta skewers or salmon skewers. All the meats are tasty but the chicken shawarma was a favorite! The kefta meatballs and falafel are both tender and flavorful. Yalla Mediterranean menu Once you pick your protein, it is placed on the custom grill, which is both a rotisserie and conveyor, and will cook as you build the rest of your plate.
As I have been working with some Greek wines of recent, I took note when I read an article in the Wall Street Journal about Greek wines. What surprised me all the more was that two of the restaurants quoted (Iron Gate and Zaytinya) were Washington DC restaurants. So, when work took me to DC, I made a point of checking out Iron Gate and headed there for dinner with a couple friends. Iron Gate Opened in 1923 by the General Federation of Women's Clubs, Iron Gate held the title of the oldest continuously open restaurant in Washington DC until it closed in 2010. Then, in 2013, the Neighborhood Restaurant Group and Executive Chef Anthony Chittum reopened Iron Gate, featuring a Mediterranean menu inspired by Greece and Italy.
While Vegas is known for gambling and all-night partying, it has also become a food mecca.  A weekend in Vegas can be spent eating your way through the Strip at a number of top restaurants from around the country, while burning a massive whole in your wallet. However, one of North America's best Greek restaurants, Estiatorio Milos, located on the quiet third floor of the Cosmopolitan Hotel, offers a pre-fixe lunch menu and a deal that can't be beat!  For $20.12, you get a 3 course menu featuring the fresh seafood and simple, delicate flavors from the main menu but for a price that won't break your budget.
