Abbot Kinney in Venice Beach is a busy street filled with vegan, organic, natural hipster-driven businesses. But, tucked info a storefront between a mystic bookstore and custom jewelry boutique, Yours Truly is truly a neighborhood restaurant, or as their website states, "an earnest neighborhood restaurant." Located in the former Salt Air space, Yours Truly serves a "modern California" menu inspired by Chef Vartan Abgaryan’s roots as a native Angeleno, Armenian-American and classically-trained chef. The space has a casual beachy feel with whitewashed brick, fresh greenery, light wood tables with white chairs and bright orange banquettes.
I never need an excuse to eat ice cream but incentive is never a bad thing. So, here is an incentive to head to Humphry Slocombe on Abbot Kinney in Venice....Ice Cream Happy Hour! What more do you need to know other than every Wednesday, between 2pm and 6pm, if you purchase a single scoop, your friend will get a free scoop. Well, perhaps you want to know what you will find at Humphry Slocombe. Humphry Slocombe opened their first store in 2008 in the Ferry Building in San Francisco. Today there are locations in the Mission District and Oakland and last summer, in August 2019, they opened a location in Venice Beach. The compact space has a bright, casual, inviting feel.

Going to Leona is like going to a friend's house for dinner. The Venice Beach restaurant by Chef Nyesha Arrington is warm and inviting and feels like home.

Located on Washington Boulevard, the space is high-ceilinged with long leather banquettes. There is a long bar with stools that face the open kitchen. And the patio, which is along Washington Boulevard, is cosy and intimate.

From the moment we walked up to the hostess stand, I felt welcome. The hosts greet everyone with smiles and there is a sense of familiarity between them and the guests. We took our seat on the patio and started to review the menu. Serving progressive California cuisine, we were intrigued by the menu. Utilizing Central Valley produce and coastal seafood, there are international influences ranging from Asian to Mediterranean. Luckily I was with another "foodie" friend which means that we have a tendency to over-order, and over-eat. But that is why we have so much fun.
