19Weekend Brunch is the perfect leisurely meal where you do not have have to rush off to work or to an appointment. And that is how we enjoyed our brunch at Sangers and Joe.
"Sanger" is Australian lingo for sandwiches and "Joe" is a cup of coffee. Located in Old Town Pasadena, Sangers and Joe is a modern, market-style cafe open for breakfast and lunch daily and brunch on the weekends.
Spend a day shopping and you can work up a good appetite. But you do not need to fill up with junk food or other typical mall food when a nice civilized lunch is available.
The Americana at Brand in Glendale is not your typical mall. Open air, it is more like a little village filled with retail stores and restaurants. One of the restaurants is Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina, located on the corner of Colorado Avenue and Brand Boulevard. An American steakhouse, there are five Bourbon Steak restaurants around the country.
In the vast city of Los Angeles, there is an ever growing list of restaurants that I want to try. Two of the restaurants that have been at the top of my list are Alimento, Chef Zach Pollack's restaurant in Echo Park, and Love & Salt, Chef Michael Fiorelli's restaurant in Manhattan Beach. These two restaurants are located 24 miles apart from each other, but with Los Angeles traffic as it is, they seem like worlds apart. But from two sides of the city, these two chefs came together to make lunch during Los Angeles Food and Wine 2015.
The lunch took place at Love & Salt in Manhattan Beach. Love & Salt offers a menu that is a mix of Italian, Mediterranean and Californian. Alimento offers a menu that blends Northern Italian cuisine with California influences. The essence of this lunch was to have two passionate chefs come and have fun cooking together, and that they did!
