Jagermeister Spirited Dinner at Tales of the Cocktail

When you think of Jagermeister, does it bring you back to your college days? Or perhaps you secretly enjoy Jagermeister while on a ski trip in the cold of winter. Either way, you probably are embarrassed to admit that you enjoyed this licorice liqueur sometime in your past life. But, I am hear to tell you that you may want to rethink this. At Tales of the Cocktail this year, Jagermeister hosted a Spirited Dinner called Jägermeister’s Summer of Music Spirited Dinner at the Foundation Room at the New Orleans House of Blues. I was intrigued by the invitation. The dinner was limited to 56 guests, one for each of the 56 premium ingredients in Jägermeister’s secret recipe. Jagermeister is an amazing modifier in cocktails. Top bartenders Willy Shine, Sean Kenyon, Ivy Mix and Sean Hoard mixed up delicious cocktails using Jagermeister that paired perfectly with the dinner.

Tivoli & Lee New Orleans

There really is no shortage of good food in New Orleans. Every year that I go to Tales of the Cocktail, the list of restaurants to try is endless. This year, Tales of the Cocktail created Tales Restaurant Week where restaurants around the city offered a special price-fixed tasting menu, along with a recommended spirit cocktail, but of course.

Our restaurant week choice was Tivoli & Lee, a modern Southern bistro at the Hotel Modern, next to the bar Bellocq, in the central business district of New Orleans.

Pure Imagination Comes to Life at Barton G

When my friend and pastry chef Marisa Churchill came to LA for a segment on The Talk, she told me that it was up to me to select where we ate. But, then she called and said she had one request - could we go to the new Barton G which opened on La Cienega. Why? Well, let's put it this way and see if this tune rings a bell....... "Come with me, and you'll be, in a world of pure imagination.
Take a look, And you'll see, Into your imagination.
We'll begin, with a spin, traveling in the world of my creation
What we'll see will defy explanation.
If you want to view paradise, simply look around and view it.
Anything you want to, do it.
Wanta change the world? There's nothing to it.

Living there, you'll be free, if you truly wish to be." Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is every child's dream. Who doesn't fantasize about walking through the candy fantasy land with rivers of chocolate and trees of gumdrops? At Barton G, this magical world comes to life, with a little twist ala Stanley Kubrick and Salvador Dali.
