HENTLEY FARM WINE

2015’s Winery of the Year, Hentley Farm Wines is the creation of Keith and Alison Hentschke and based in the Seppeltsfield area of the Barossa Valley. Specialising in premium quality single-estate and single-block wines solely from their own vineyard, Keith believes careful vineyard selection is the key to producing high quality wines.

For Hentley, it’s all about listening to the land and planting the right vines in the right place, in the right way. The Hentschke family has had a long association with the Barossa Valley, first settling there in 1842.

WINE MAKER ANDREW QUIN

Andrew Quin has taken a slightly unusual road to winemaking, transitioning from his original field of study – horticulture. For Andrew, winemaking provided an unparalleled opportunity to combine scientific knowledge with his artistic flair.

Andrew has travelled and worked around much of the Northern hemisphere, starting in California with ultra premium Sonoma producer St Francis winery, then working under renowned Merlot and Zinfandel winemaker Tom Mackey, and finally moving on to the old world in a role with Bordeaux based negociant, Jacques Lurton.

Andrew returned to Australia with one question in mind… ‘Which region most suits my winemaking style and passion for wine?’  The answer was simple – the mighty Barossa, where big, bold reds are the signature, and complex, textural whites a discovery.

“It was very clear that working for Hentley Farm would provide a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity to create some of the best single vineyard and single block wines our country and the winemaking community has seen.”
